Our Young Eagles are nationally renowned for their achievements. South Canterbury Aero Club and its Young Eagles have secured many flying scholarships and had its Young Eagles compete in flying competitions at local, regional and national levels.

Our Young Eagles program when running with a dedicated group of Young Eagles runs monthly to bi-monthly meetings (depending on activities planned). Over the last four years, our Young Eagles have earned themselves over $30,000 in flying scholarships, flown in vintage aircraft such as Tiger Moths, warbirds such as Yak 52's, won national trophies and awards, attended Warbirds over Wanaka, competed in dedicated Young Eagles competitions, visited museums, helped refurbish aircraft and also build aircraft parts.

Our Young Eagles have started a tradition of the 16th Birthday solo. They work really hard on their flight lessons leading up to their 16th birthdays to ensure they are ready and competent to fly the aircraft solo on the day.
